Mech Surfacing - Ben Keeling CGMA Course

Earlier this year I completed Ben Keeling's CGMA course, "Fundamentals of Substance for Environment Art." One of our assignments was to texture this mech in Substance Painter, which was modeled and unwrapped by Ben. https://www.artstation.com/benkeeling . Part of our assignment was to choose the materials we wanted to texture it with, so I chose to take inspiration from early 2000s electronics, specifically a walkman, as I really enjoy the aesthetic of colourful electronics. It was challenging but ultimately a really great learning experience, and I'm happy to have had some extra time to polish it up after the class!

Some of my key references. I really like the yellowing scroll wheel plastic and the fine grain metal on the iPod, the gradient blue plastic on the walkman, and the colour palettes of the other walkmen.
